While our Power Data Cable works on a wide array of computers and portable devices, there are some that raise a few questions.  (This list is designed to help you know what to look out for with regard to compatibility.)

Question: It looks like it works on my device. How can I know whether or not it does?

Answer: The best way to be sure is to check your device manufacturer’s website for 40Gbps support on your device. The computer and the device it connects to must both support 40Gbps to reach the full performance.

If you think it might work, but aren’t sure, please reach out and ask us! Our Customer Success team is always eager to help!

Question: What do you mean when you say it’s USB-C compatible?

Answer: USB-C and 40 Gbps ports and adapters appear identical, but are actually not the same. The primary difference between these two is the limitations on USB-C’s ability to transfer data. The maximum data transfer rate for USB-C is 10Gbps, versus the Power Data Cable's max 40Gbps.

Question: Does this work with my Surface Book 3 and Shell Thunder?

Answer: No. For Shell Thunder, your Surface Book 3 does not support 40 Gbps. However, our product does work as a well built USB-C cable with full support of 10Gbps data transfer speed and 45W charging (limited by Surface, not the cable). This cable will be future-proof for all potential 40Gbps devices you might have, at least for the next 10 years.

Question: Does this work with Aero 15X V8?

Answer: No. While it does work with Aero 15X V8’s full 40Gbps data transfer, Aero 15X V8 is unable to charge. Despite our cable appearing to be compatible, it will not work.

Question: Does this work with my iPad Pro 2018?

Answer: Yes. iPad Pro 2018 has a USB-C port. This is one of the best USB-C cables you can buy with full 10Gbps data transfer rate and charging. However, because iPad Pro does not have a 40Gbps port, it cannot match the anticipated max data transfer and charging speeds.

Question: Does this work with my Oneplus 8 phone?

Answer: Yes. Oneplus 8 has a USB-C port. This is one of the best USB-C cables you can buy with full 10Gbps data transfer rate and charging. However, because Oneplus 8 does not have a 40 Gbps port, it cannot match the anticipated max data transfer and charging speeds.

Question: Does this work with my eGPU?

Answer: We don’t know yet! If you try the eGPU with our cable, we would love your feedback!
